DropCoal was successfully launched today, 05.11.2024, to the International Space Station (ISS)!
The device was entirely developed in Romania by our team, to host an experiment proposed by an international team of scientist led by INFLPR and financed by ESA. Its purpose is to study how two droplets coalesce and mix in microgravity.
The launch took place today at 04:29:00 (Romanian time) from the NASA Kennedy Space Center, the equipment being carried by a Dragon capsule mounted on a Falcon-9 rocket, as part of the SpaceX CRS-31 mission.
The experiment will arrive on the ISS tonight, where it will be installed by astronaut Donald Pettit in the Columbus module, on the ICE Cubes Facility platform.
Stay tuned as we will receive updates from the ISS soon!
